Nokia has started the development of its manufacturing facility in Vietnam. The official opening ceremony, held 23 April 2012, was attended by more than 200 people, including Finnish ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Kimmo Lähdevirta and Vietnam's Science and Technology Minister, Mr. Nguyen Quan. The new factory aims to start operations early next year. The factory is situated in northern Vietnam, in Bac Ninh province and the factory area extends over 17 hectares. Nokia launched its operations in Vietnam in 1996 and the company has two offices in the country, one in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
